Obituary

Berlin, VT Burton Clyde "Burkey" Richardson, Sr., 74, of Three Mile Bridge Road, Berlin died February 16, 2012 at his home. He was born in Wolcott, Vermont on January 14, 1938 the son of Clyde & Myra (Dwyer) Richardson. He received his education in schools in Wolcot and Middlesex, VT. Following his schooling, Burton served in the Army National Guard. He later worked 27 years as a custodian for the State of Vermont at the State Complex in Montpelier. He retired in the late 90's. Burton was a member of the American Legion Post # 3. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool. He loved carpentry and often would make wood bird houses and help people with building porch decks. He is survived by his companion of 47 years, Elizabeth Barclay of Berlin; five children, Burton Clyde (BJ) Richardson, Jr. of Warren, VT; Maria Richardson of Montpelier, VT; Brian Richardson of Florida; Cyndi Taylor of Berlin, VT and Kevin Richardson of Berlin; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Edna Taylor of Burlington; and brother, Elton of Richardson of Barre; nieces and nephews. Burton was predeceased by a step-son, Michael Taylor and six sisters and one brother. Memorial service and burial will be held at later date.
