Beverly Ann Stevens/Azur, 80, of Montpelier died February 24, 2014 in Heywood Hospital in Gardner, Mass. She was born in Montpelier on October 3, 1933 the 9th of 10 children to Logan and Artie (Cowan) Crowell. Beverly attended Montpelier Schools and graduated in 1952 from Montpelier High School. Beverly was married to Neil L. Stevens, Jr. on July 23, 1956. They had two children, Neil and Narra. Mr. Stevens died on July 10, 1958. She later married Philip Azur in 1960 and had one child, Schuyler. Beverly worked for the State of Vermont for several years She then did day care while her children were young returning to work in the Montpelier Public School System, part-time for Rich's Department Store, and the Grand Union and Shaw's of Berlin & Montpelier retiring in 2011. Survivors include a daughter, Narra Walters of town Concord, NC, two sons, Neil L. Stevens, III., of Montpelier,Schuyler Azur of Montpelier; granddaughter, Krystal Walters and great granddaughter, Makayla Herlding of Concord, NC. Beverly is also survived by a sister, Ernestine Moreau of Norwich, Ct; sister-in-laws, Nancy Strong and her husband, Fred of East Montpelier; Ann Marie Azur and brother-in-law, Tony Azur both of St. Johnsbury, VT; many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents and eight siblings. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 1-3 pm at Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Middlesex Center Cemetery in the Stevens Family lot. Following this, her life will be honored and celebrated at a reception.
