Obituary

Barre, VT Bertha G. Tucker passed away on June 12, 2012 at Woodridge Nursing Home at the age of 95. She was born on November 10, 1916 in Broome, Quebec, the daughter of John and Jennie Thompson. She and her family moved to the United States when she was ten and graduated from Plainfield High School. She married Floyd M. Tucker of Plainfield on February 19, 1944. They resided in Calais for many years until she moved to Barre after the death of her husband in 1975. Bertha worked at the Adamant Cooperative and was manager for a number of years. Her hobbies were crocheting, watching television and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Leonard and her husband Edward of Calais and Ocala, FL; two grandsons, Gregory Leonard and his life partner Inga Smith of Dunedin, New Zealand; and Christopher Leonard and his wife Monique of Walpole, MA; and their son and Bertha's great grandson, Ethan Eric Leonard; she is also survived by a sister, Mildred Slayton of Barre; and many nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Tucker; siblings, Norman Thompson, Gladys Lawson, and Irene Holmes; and grandson, Eric E. Leonard. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, June 25th at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier. Burial will follow the service at Plain-Mont Cemetery, East Montpelier.
