Bert A. Wendel, Sr, 47, of Brook Road, Middlesex, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Central Vermont Medical Center.
He was born in Berlin, VT on October 27, 1965, the son of Carl and Jean (Clark) Wendel. He was educated in Middlesex public schools and attended Union 32 High School.
He was married to Rhonda MacAuley for a number of years. They were later divorced.
Bert worked as a construction machine operator for many contractors in the Central Vermont area. He could run any piece of equipment, but preferred to be in an excavator. He was currently the owner of Wendel Excavation in Middlesex.
Bert will be greatly missed by his family and extended network of friends.
Survivors include his companion, Carole Picard of Worcester, VT; daughter, Meriah Wendel of Worcester; sons, Carl Wendel of Worcester, Bert Wendel, Jr. of Barre, and step son, Jayme Lee of Barre; his mother, Jean Clark of Middlesex; brothers, Chad Wendel and his wife Diane of Middlesex, and Eddie Wendel of Middlesex and grandchildren, Camden John Wendel, Ella Lee and Gavin Lee.
Bert was predeceased by his father, Carl Wendel and both sets of grandparents; Edgar and Dorothy Chapin and Bert and Mable Clark all of Middlesex.
The family will host calling hours from 10:00-12:00 noon on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A committal service will take place at a later date at the Middlesex Center Cemetery.
