Obituary

Worcester, VT

Barbara Joan Blanchard, born on July 28, 1938, in Middlebury, Vermont, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of her family. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Barbara leaves behind a rich legacy of love and resilience.

Growing up in the picturesque landscapes of Vermont, Barbara's spirit was ignited early in life. She served her country in the United States Air Force from February 26, 1957, to May 8, 1959, during the Korean War, embodying the strength and courage that would characterize her life. After her service, she pursued higher education, earning her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Vermont, and later working as a dedicated Tax Administrator for the Vermont Tax Department and the Section 8 Housing Authority in Massachusetts.

Barbara was a passionate woman of many interests. She cherished her time with the Red Hat Club, enjoyed needlework, and was known for her love of bingo. An adventurous spirit, she delighted in horseback riding and even hunted foxes, embracing the outdoors with enthusiasm. Her heart was always in Vermont, and after living in Palmer, MA, she returned to her roots in Worcester, where she continued to create a loving home.

Barbara is survived by her three sons, Christopher Blanchard of Monson, MA, Jonathan Blanchard of Williamstown, and Robert Blanchard, Jr of Worcester, VT ; and her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, Carter, Gabrielle, and Tyler; and three great grandchildren. Each of them carries forward her warmth, wisdom, and zest for life, and her brother, Wilfred Hamner of Hartland, VT.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Robert Blanchard, Sr; her siblings, Shirley Martin, Richard Hamner

Barbara June Blanchard will be remembered not only for her accomplishments but for the love and joy she brought into the lives of those around her. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the indelible mark she has left on our hearts.
