Audrey Tower Walker of Montpelier, Vermont, passed away at the age of 90 on August 10, 2018 in Berlin.
Audrey was born on January 10, 1928 in Rutland, Vermont, to the late Gladys J. Tower and the late Harold Tower. She graduated from Rutland High School in 1945.
On December 17, 1944 (74 years ago) Audrey and Don Walker went on their first date and became inseparable. They were married on September 25, 1948. This September would have been their 70th anniversary!
She was preceded in death by her grandchild, John Donald Picard. Audrey is survived by her son, Wade Walker and his spouse Carolyn; daughters, Michelle Walker and Megan Picard and her spouse John; brother, Richard Tower and his spouse Betty; grandchildren, Suzanne Picard Poljasevic, Melissa Picard Vickers and her spouse Ted, and Jessie Picard Alfarone and her spouse Paul; Geoffrey Walker, Nathaniel (Nano) Walker and his spouse Tory, Lindsay Walker; and great-grandchildren, Nikola, Jelena, Eva, Biruk, and Oscar. She also leaves behind her dog, "Tally".
Audrey was a loving wife and dedicated mother. In addition to raising her children and taking care of the house, Audrey loved dancing with Don, reading, playing bridge, and spending 53 summers with family on Joes Pond. She was proud of her time as a plane spotter for the Civil Air Patrol during WWII, working as a telephone operator in Rutland, and volunteering at Central Vermont Hospital.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Calling Hours on Tuesday, August 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Guare & Sons Funeral Home - Montpelier, 30 School Street, Montpelier, Vermont, 05602. A graveside service will take place, officiated by Yunki Kim, on Wednesday, August 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Berlin Corners Cemetery, Scott Rd, Berlin, Vermont, 05641.
