April Garfield, 62, of Barre,VT, passed away surrounded by the women of her family on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the UVM Medical Center in Berlin, VT after a battle with cancer. She was born in Barre, VT on April 2, 1957, the daughter of the late Franklin Garfield and Joyce (LaCourse) Garfield. She attended schools in East Montpelier and later Union 32 High School. April worked as a customer service representative for the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles for over 20 years. April enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and plants, she also loved her vegetable garden. She was pretty crafty, she enjoyed doing embroidery, and had recently started doing diamond painting. She loved summers by her pool and spending time at Hampton Beach and the Casinos in Maine. She will be fondly remembered at her family reunion at Elmore Beach each year. April loved her time with her grandchildren, she spoke with them about what they would want for Christmas this year and was able to purchase them all gifts before she passed. It meant a lot to them to have a little part of her with them this holiday. She is survived by her mother, Joyce Garfield of FL, her daughter Chantel (Demers) Shepherd her husband Adam and grandchildren Allison, Lucas, Phoebe, Mac and Norah of UT. Her Companion of 25 years Creig Whitcomb. Also her aunts, June Picard of Middlesex, Debbie Utton of Montpelier, Janetlee Goodall of Barre, Uncle Robert Garfield of FL and her sister, Giselle Hayback of MA. Also many cousins and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Franklin Garfield and her brother, Daniel Garfield. A celebration of life will take place in the spring.
