Anne Therese Walz, 72, died peacefully at home with her family on April 20, 2017 in Montpelier, VT. Anne was born in Denver Colorado to Barbara and Thomas Morrissey. Anne earned her Bachelor's Degree in History, with a minor in Secondary Education, in 1967, from Saint Mary College, in Leavenworth, Kansas. She taught History at Cathedral High School and Marycrest High School in Denver, Colorado. She served as Director of Denver LEARN, an adult literacy program, before moving to Vermont. After home schooling her two boys, she worked for Capital City Press and Dartmouth Journal Services as a copy editor for Political Science Quarterly, and several scientific journals.
Anne was adventurous. Her favorite childhood memories were of family trailer trips; she was always interested in exploring somewhere new, whether hitchhiking the Outer Hebrides, exploring a Roman gold mine in Wales, she was intellectually curious. She was also an avid reader, and employed her grammatical skills on everything she read.
Anne is survived by her husband, John Walz of Montpelier, VT, son, Owen Walz of Portland, OR, mother, Barbara Morrissey of Palo Cedro, CA, sisters Barbara Morrissey of Spokane, WA, Jeanne Morrissey, of Denver, CO. Kathy Stillmonkes of Palo Cedro, CA, Carolyn Ii of Palo Cedro, CA, Josephine Morrissey of Mountain View, CA, Louisa Young of Glenwood Springs, CO, brother Dan Morrissey of Denver, CO., nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Morgan Walz, of Boston, MA and her older brother Sean Morrissey, of St. Louis, MO.
