Obituary

Montpelier, VT Anne K. Johnson, 99, entered into eternal life on March 2, 2015. Anne was born December 7, 1915 in New Britain Connecticut to Anthony and Monica (Gisavage) Kowalsky. She married Martin D. Johnson on June 8, 1940 in St. John Church, New Britain. Anne retired from the Grove Hill Clinic OB/GYN Department in 1979. She was a communicant at St. Francis of Assisi Church, a member of The Ladies Guild and Altar Society. She was also a member of the Stanley Golf Club and the Woman's Golf Club. Anne and Martin moved to Montpelier in 1989. She is a member of St. Augustine Parish and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Anne was known for her skills with a sewing needle, knitting needles and paint brushes. She enjoyed a good book, a good card game, a challenging crossword puzzle and a good round of golf. Anne's strong devotion to her faith served as an example to her family. She leaves cherished memories to her son Martin Johnson Jr and wife Mary of Durham CT, daughter Susan DeMauro of Old Orchard Beach ME, and daughter Marna Canales and husband Richard of Montpelier; Nine Grandchildren, Richard Canales, wife Diane, Woburn, MA. Peter Canales, Montpelier, Karlynn Koenemann and husband Mark, Montpelier, and Joseph Canales and wife Lisa, Saco ME. Carie Costello and husband David, Falmouth ME, Jody Mancini and husband Michael, Kittery ME, Mark DeMauro and wife Erin, Wells ME. Kate Mastronunzio and husband Andrew, Chaplin CT, Monica D'Aria and husband Antonio, New Haven CT; twenty-one Great- Grand Children and two Great-Great Grand Sons. The family would like to thank the staff of Rowan Court for the thoughtful care and many kindnesses shown to Anne, and a special Thanks to Susie at Heaton Woods for her "driving range" outings. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon, Saturday March 7th at St. Augustine Church Montpelier. Arrangements are provided by Guare and Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Augustine Church Soup Kitchen or Renovation Fund.
