EAST MONTPELIER
Born on October 11, 1930, Anna Towne, 86, of Sibley Road, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at her home.
Anna grew up and attended schools in Williamstown and Northfield. She was a devoted daughter to her mother Ruby Jones and father Clarence Jones. She enjoyed special times with her brother Eddie and sister Alice.
Anna married Charles "Ralph" Towne in 1959. They delighted in setting up camp on St. Alban's Bay and Lamoille River as a part of the Central Vermont Boating Club.
Anna loved to play cards, do word finds, bowl, and most of all play bingo. She was a past president of the American Legion and VFW auxiliary and was a committed leader of the Legion Jr. Girl. Most of all she was a loving and caring mother to her three sons.
Survivors include her children Donald Baker and his wife, Georgeanne, of Waterbury, Clifford Baker and his wife Cheryl, of North Andover, Massachusetts, and Ronald Baker and his partner Linda Gray, of East Montpelier; and seven grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 6-8:00 pm on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Friday September 22, 2017, also at Guare & Sons Funeral Home.
