Montpelier, VT Ann J. Schmidt, a longtime Montpelier resident died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester, VT of natural causes. Ann was born March 2, 1915 in Quebec City, Canada to Clara and Joseph Corriveau. She was the last survivor of five children. She moved to Barre, VT with her family at a young age and attended Barre schools. Twice married, her first husband was Robert R. Carr of Montpelier. Together, they had two Children, Allan R. Carr of Grand Isle, VT and Carol Ann Grausz of Tahoe City, CA. Between marriages in 1960, she opened The Parisienne House of Beauty, a hair salon, at her home on Northfield Street in Montpelier. The shop was operated until 1970 when Ann moved to St. Louis, MO to marry William Schmidt. Upon his untimely death in 1973, Ann moved to the Burlington area where she remained until her death. She is survived by her two children Allan and Carol Ann and her grandchildren, Jay Carr of Barre, VT, Rob Carr and his wife Debbie of Berlin, VT, Michael Grausz and his wife Martha of San Francisco, CA and Brad Grausz and wife Angila of Reno, NV. She is also survived by several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A graveside service for family members will be held at a later date.
