Obituary

Montpelier, VT Ann Gray Aldrich passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on April 8, 2015. Ann was born Ann Lyon Gray on February 18, 1930 in Orleans, VT and was a 1948 graduate of Orleans High School. Upon graduation, she attended both the University of Vermont and Becker College in Worchester, MA, before taking a job as a news reporter at the Caledonian Record in St. Johnsbury. She had a passion for reporting and anyone who knew her knows that her engaging and inquisitive mind was one of her most endearing features. It was in St. Johnsbury where she met her husband Frank Aldrich and found the second great passion in her life, raising her four children; Jude, Brad, Barry and Lori, and then enjoying her grandkids. Ann and Frank lived in Wilder, VT before finally settling in Montpelier. Near the end she would tell us that she was ready to go, with no regrets. That's truly a life well lived. Ann is predeceased by her husband Frank Aldrich. She leaves behind her four children Jude Allen and husband John of New York City, Brad Aldrich and his wife Mary of Shelburne, VT, Barry Aldrich and his wife Robin of Lyndonville, VT, Lori Aldrich and partner Peter Scherber of Richmond, VT and five grandchildren, Kyra Allen, Christine and Patrick Aldrich, Samantha David and Kaitlin Scherber. She also predeceases her brother Robert Gray and his wife Barbara of Orlando, FL, her sister Susan Campbell and husband Carl of Waynesville, NC and her sister Betsy Gray of Ovedia, FL. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Gary Home and Woodridge Nursing Home for their outstanding compassion and exceptional care. Calling hours and remembrances will be held at Guare & Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier from 5-7 pm on Monday, April 13, 2015, with a private burial to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org.
