IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrea Jane
Mitchell
April 9, 1949 – May 7, 2024
Brattleboro, VT/ Gardner, MA
Andrea J. Mitchell, 75, formerly of Yorkshire Circle in West Brattleboro and most recently of Broadview Assisted Living in Winchendon, MA passed away peacefully after a steady decline in health.
She was born in Gardner, MA on April 9, 1949, the daughter of Roger and Shirley (Erickson) Boucher. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Gardner High School in 1967. Upon graduating Andrea earned her nursing degree from Heywood Hospital Nursing School. She worked for several years as an RN before moving to Vermont.
She married Harold "Mitch" Mitchell, of Brattleboro, VT. Together they made their home in West Brattleboro where they were the caretakers of several local cemeteries. It was a great honor for her to look after the graves of her neighbors and community members who left this world before her. Sadly, Mitch passed unexpectedly July of 2016.
Andrea was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 597 where she worked presorting packages and Parcels for UPS in Brattleboro. She worked there from 1980 until her retirement. For many years she also worked during the holidays as a UPS driver's assistance. Hard work and physical labor were a welcomed fact of life for Andrea.
Her repose always came at the beach, especially in Wells, ME. It was here that she and her sister, Bonnie, her Aunt Linda, and Sister-in-Law, Joyce enjoyed many "ladies' get-a-ways". They stayed oceanfront so that she could enjoy the sunrises while walking on the beach listening to the waves and watching the tides, always stopping to talk to any dogs along the way. A fond remembrance is the way Linda and Andrea would suddenly break into singing "Oklahoma" after seeing the show at the Ogunquit Playhouse. Similarly, Andrea also enjoyed her time with the ladies at The Villages in FL with family.
Andrea's obituary would not be complete without mentioning her beloved and the numerous Pomeranians she had loved so dearly over the years. This reunion at the "Rainbow Bridge" would be a sight to behold.
Survivors include her sister, Bonnie Keaveny, and husband, Pat of Templeton, MA, brother, John Boucher, and wife Joyce of Gardner, MA; granddaughters, Haley Sanderson and her husband, Matt of Seattle, WA, and Sarah Blais of Brattleboro; stepdaughter, Michelle Wood and her husband Steph, step son, Michael Mitchell and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who she loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Mitchell, and notably her aunt and great-friend, Linda LaRoche who passed away a week prior. The family takes solace in knowing that they left this earth together and their joy continues for eternity.
A graveside celebration will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2024. Remembrances and fellowship will continue immediately following at a venue to be determined in Brattleboro.
The staff at Guare & Sons Funeral Home is honored to assist in the arrangements. Andrea would not have had it any other way.
