Alice Emma McIntyre, 86, of Brattleboro, Vermont, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, after an extended period of declining health.
Born September 21, 1931, in Bethel-Gilead, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Thresher and Emma (French) Thresher. The youngest daughter of Leonard and Emmas children, Alice was predeceased by three sisters, Gertrude, Pauline and Anna, and seven brothers, James, Leonard, Richard, Daniel, Leslie, Calvin and Raymond.
On November 7, 1949, she married Harold Stanley McIntyre, the love of her life, of Worcester, Massachusetts. They began their married life in Worcester, later moving to Randolph, Vermont, and then ultimately settled in Montpelier, Vermont, to raise their children. Harold predeceased Alice on September 13, 1971. Alice never remarried and often told her children that no one else could ever measure up to Harold.
Alice began her banking career as a teller for Montpelier National Bank in 1965 and stayed with the bank after it was renamed Vermont National Bank. In July, 1976, Alice relocated to the banks Operation Center in Brattleboro, Vermont, working her way up to Assistant Vice President at the time of her retirement in 1993.
She is survived by her four children, Deborah Tomasi and husband, Jimmy, of Gill, MA, Raymond McIntyre and partner, Sarah, of Cabot, VT, Kathy Tracey and husband, Thurly, of Hinsdale, NH, and David McIntyre and wife, Barbara, of Townshend, VT; six grandchildren: Julie, David, Jimmy, Michael, Jeffrey and Anthony; thirteen great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Stephanie, Karen, Andre, Vincent, Nicholas, Jonah, Alexander, Gabriel, Isaac, Lily, Dante, and Molly; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, May 4, 2018, at Green Mountain Cemetery in Montpelier, VT.
The family will celebrate Alices life on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at American Legion Post 5, 32 Linden Street, Brattleboro, VT at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 215 N. Main Street, White River Jct., VT 05009.
