Albert Thomas Cross, "Junior", 80, formerly of Barre and most recently of Jeffersonville died on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born in Heaton Hospital in Montpelier on January 17, 1939, the son of Albert and Irene (Guyette) Cross.
Albert attended Montpelier grade school and Montpelier High School. After his education he joined the Army National Guard.
He was married to Elizabeth Duprey in 1961. He later married Nancy Payne on November 29, 1969 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Nancy predeceased him on July 24, 2008.
Junior first worked for National Life Insurance Company, Powers Rubbish Removal Service and in the 1960s, he operated Als light trucking business in Montpelier. In 1975, Junior started working for Buildings Division for the State of Vermont in Montpelier and worked as a utility driver until his retirement on January 31, 2001. He enjoyed buying and selling cars and was a collector of antique and classic cars.
He is survived by two daughters; Lorraine Caplette of Massachusetts and Amy Wade of Barre, VT; three sons, Timothy Cross and wife, Holly of Williamstown, William Cross and partner, Danny Ferland of Jeffersonville, and James Cross of White River Junction, VT; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Colbeth of Newbury, VT and many niece and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Cross and a brother Roland Cross.
Calling hours will be held from 10:00-12:00 on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at Noon.
