Obituary

Annette Ruth Gallant, 89, of Route 12 in West Berlin and more recently of Mayo Manor in Northfield died Thursday, October 21, 2010. Ruth was born in Lynn, Mass. on February 4, 1921 the daughter of Harry J. Gallant and Jennie Frances (Wilcox) Gallant. She received her education in schools in Lynn and graduated from Lynn High School. She later graduated from Salem State Teachers College with a degree in education. Ruth's first teaching post was at Horn of the Moon School in East Montpelier. She later taught at Middlesex and Riverton schools and for many years at the Northfield Schools. Ruth taught for a total of 31 years. Ruth was an avid hand crafter. She enjoyed designing beautiful original knitted and crocheted creations. Ruth took special delight in making original dolls, which she loved giving to local children. Ruth was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Retired Teachers Association, A.A.R.P., and volunteered her time at the Red Mitten Craft Shop. She is survived by her sister, Claire A. Gallant of Mayo Manor in Northfield. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, and one sister. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 27th at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 16 Barre Street, Montpelier. Burial will follow at Berlin Corners Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
